The Los Olivos Gallery Organization hosts the annual Holiday Art Show. Many artists will be on hand at the individual galleries to greet visitors and collectors. Julefest annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony. Held in Solvang Park (Mission Drive & First Street) starting at 5 p.m., enjoy free musical entertainment, refreshments and caroling followed by the arrival of Old Saint Nick and his wife.

The holiday starts one Los Alamos’ Bell Street from 5 to 8 p.m. Art shows will be on display; small children will be playing holiday songs on recorders from the Los Alamos Star Group; and community carolers will be singing holiday tunes. Almost all of the Los Alamos shops will be opening and sharing holiday cheer. There will also be a community-sing group of carolers. Saturday, Dec. 5

The annual Julefest Parade begins at 11 a.m. featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus as the parade’s grand marshals. Entries include Danish dancers, musical groups, vintage vehicles, horses, carriages and animals. The parade originates at Old Mission Santa Ines (1760 Mission Drive), travels west on Mission Drive (Highway 246), turns left on Fourth Street, turns left on Copenhagen Drive, and ends on Alisal Road at the Solvang Post Office.

Meet and learn about alpacas at the 4th annual Alpaca Holiday Boutique beginning at 10 a.m. at Silver Spring Alpacas Ranch in Solvang. Come meet participating ranches as you shop for everything from stocking stuffers to family heirlooms. Learn how farm raised alpaca wool is spun into beautiful yarn from the very same alpacas you will meet and feed at this kid-friendly free event. Look for the signs on Hwy 246 in Solvang. The community of Los Olivos welcomes the Holiday Season from 4 to 7 p.m. with business and galleries decorated with hundreds of luminarias. The Blue Angels choir of the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church will usher in the advent season with a Christmas choral concert at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Featured will be a performance of Vivaldi’s “Gloria” with several choristers from the community joining the Blue Angels. The Buellton Historical Society hosts it Tree Lighting Ceremony 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Andersen’s Pea Soup Restaurant. An annual tradition, the Holiday Gingerbread House at Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery, is created by Bent Olsen, a fourth generation Danish baker. The gingerbread house is 10-feet-tall and requires 250 pounds of gingerbread dough, 150 pounds of powdered sugar and three gallons of egg whites to make. On display daily at the bakery at 1529 Mission Drive in Solvang.

Solvang’s annual Christmas tree burn at 6 p.m. in the fields of Old Mission Santa Ines, 1760 Mission Drive, supervised by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
