The Lucky Clover 4-H club held its monthly meeting Oct. 5 at the
Grange Hall in Los Olivos.
Members may participate in the local club projects along with the
countywide projects. Countywide projects for the upcoming year include Animal Fostering,
including becoming a first aid and CPR instructor for pets; Camp Wahoo!;
Leadership; Citizenship; Dogs; Fishing; global positioning system and
geographical information systems (GPS/GIS); Meet Your Wild Neighbor (shore
birds and sea birds); porcelain doll crafts; and Santa Barbara County 4-H
DOERS (Disaster Outreach and Emergency Response Supplies). Also, a new Rural Arts project in the Santa Ynez Valley was announced,
which includes activities such as soap making, cheese and sausage making, and
food preservation. Winners of the 2009 County Gold Seal for club record books were
announced and include Madison Jones for the historian’s book and Clara Jones
for the reporter’s book. Club members were invited to participate in our annual Sees Candies
sale fundraiser. Forms will be distributed at the next meeting. Volunteers were requested to sign-up for the Los Olivos Day in the
Country parade, Beef Play Day and Santa Ynez Presbyterian Church Pre-School
Harvest Festival. Paige Jensen gave a report on the Club’s annual participation in the
Danish Days parade. The club project leaders for beef, swine, poultry, scrapbooking, sheep
and rabbits gave brief reports. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at the Grange Hall.
