Saxophonist to hit Alisal Cellars

Saxophonist Russ Gonzales of B-Side Players and Sunshine Brothers, will perform on Dec. 27 at Alisal Cellars, 448 Alisal Road in Solvang.

Lake offers nature walk

Naturalists will lead an easy-paced one-mile walk from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 27 on the Oak Canyon Trail at Cachuma Lake. Walkers should meet at the lake’s Nature Center. Non-religious party planned

Those wishing to celebrate the holiday season without religious overtones can attend the secular brunch for atheists, agnostics, freethinkers, skeptics and humanists after Christmas at Cody’s Restaurant in Goleta.

Organizers urge interested people to “come as a single, couple or family, with company or to make friends.” The brunch is at 10 a.m. Dec. 28 at the café, 4898 Hollister Ave. at Turnpike. Greet 2009 on an Eagle Cruise

A New Year’s Eve cruise aboard the 45-passenger pontoon boat Osprey will feature a two-hour tour with a naturalist, 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 30, on Lake Cachuma. Passengers are asked to meet at the Cachuma Lake marina 30 minutes before departure.

Market on New Year’s Eve

The weekly Solvang Farmers Market will take place as usual Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve, rain or shine. And as usual, fresh produce, flowers and foods will be available from 2:30–6 p.m. in downtown Solvang, First Street between Mission Drive and Copenhagen Drive.
