Free Friday Flicks to screen
The
Wildling Art Museum presents free movie screening on the first Friday of the
month. This month, “A Seal’s Life: the Story of the Northern Elephant Seal,”
will show at 7 p.m. on Nov. 7, in the administrative offices, 2948 Nojoqui St.,
Los Olivos. Socializing and discussion will take place after the show. Popcorn,
cookies, wine, bottled water and soft drinks are provided free of charge.
Organizers request that viewers arrive early because of limited space. More

Arabians head for Sage Hill
The Santa
Ynez Valley Arabian Horse Association Sage Hill Competitive Trail Ride Weekend
begins Nov. 7. The Individual and family horse camping-trail ride event takes
place at Live Oak Camp, off Highway 154 near Cachuma Lake. Trail riders cover
50 to 60 miles in a two-day period. One-day novice and junior divisions also
are offered. The weekend includes a barbecue and social on Nov. 8. More

Jesus Seminar at Bethania
Scholars
of the Jesus Seminar will present a two-day program entitled, “Archaeology and
the Origins of Christianity,” at Bethania Lutheran Church, 603 Atterdag Road,
Solvang. The program, which is sponsored by Westar Institute, will start at
7:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 and in two sessions, at 9:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m., on Nov.
8. The featured scholars are Biblical archaeologist Milton C. Moreland from
Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. and Jonathan L. Reed, professor of religion at
the University of La Verne. The programs are open to the public.
Blues man Benoit to perform
Louisiana
blues singer Tab Benoit will bring his Cajun-deep South music to Earl Warren
Showgrounds at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 8. Benoit has been named Male Blues Performer
of the Year by the Blues Federation for two years running, including 2008. His
appearance is sponsored by the Santa Barbara Blues Society, with ticket

Take a Cachuma Lake nature walk
Cachuma
Lake naturalists lead an easy-paced, one-mile walk on the Oak Canyon Trail from
10 to 11:30 a.m., Nov. 8. Participants will meet at the Cachuma Lake Nature
Center. The walk is free for all ages; there is an $8 per vehicle park
